There are many choices you will be making concerning your up coming move. A money saving choice you can make is to pack your belongings yourself. BOX IT has everything you need to pack out your house. Besides the hundreds or even thousands of dollars you will save; you can weed out a lot of items you don’t need or no longer want! This is really important. Not only will this save you money on weight, it will also save you time when unpacking at your new house! So, while you are packing remember - if you don’t need it, don’t pack it. For the things you do not want to take to your new home have a garage sale or donate them to charity, there is a good chance you can gain a tax deduction!
For boxes make sure to check with BOX IT, we have every size and shape box you will need, new and recycled. We even have MOVING KITS for every size house - the kits are based on the number of bedrooms your new home will have.
A general rule of thumb for moving boxes:
Use SMALL cartons for ceramics, dishes, books, records, hand tools, and small items that are heavy. A new box is recommended; like a 16x12x12 which will hold up to 60 lbs.
Use MEDIUM cartons 18x18x16 for small appliances, kitchen items, clothing, shoes, toys, and most other items. A good wide-range packing box.
Use LARGE and EXTRA LARGE 24x18x18 or 24x18x24 cartons only if you need the space - pillows, quilts, spreads, lampshades, clothes, etc.
For shirts, dresses, jackets, etc. make sure to use WARDROBE boxes; both vertical (tall) or lay-down boxes are available. For dishes, glasses, cups stemware, use a lot of Paper Wrap, Foam Wrap, or Bubble Wrap and DISH BARREL boxes. BOX IT also has specific boxes for Picture/Mirror, Framed Art Table Tops, Bikes, TV, Golf Clubs, Floor Lamps,Computer Box, Electronics, the list goes on. For Mattress, Sofa, Chairs, BOX IT has Stretch Wrap, Mattress Bags and Boxes. For Fine Furniture, Pictures, etc. make sure to use Furniture Pads (that breathe). They are economical and well worth it!
Protect everything you are packing - WRAP IT. You can use newspaper for items you do not mind if ink gets on. For everything else use non-printed paper from BOX IT. Use extra PADDING Packing Peanuts, or BUBBLE WRAP FOR ALL FRAGILE ITEMS.
